Here’s a field recording from my first visit to Lively, Google’s Second Life style virtual environment. I picked a random room and ended up at the island pictured above.
Sounds can be streamed to objects in the environment from elsewhere on the ‘Net. I’m not sure if this audio comprises a single stream or sound from a number of sources (or if the Lively client was functioning correctly, for that matter):

Here’s a selection of photos I took recently at the Henry Moore Foundation’s Perry Green site.
I don’t know a great deal about Henry Moore, or art in general for that matter, but it was cool to see and touch the sculptures first hand.

After successfully modifying my Sony Ericcson W810i Walkman phone to reduce the unsatisfactory level of background hiss during music playback (Click here for more info) I figured I’d try updating the phone’s camera driver to see how the camera’s performance might be improved. I used the ZUZA v1 camdriver from here.
Here’s the before and after results:

Not good. Both pictures were taken with identical settings, but with the supposedly better ZUZA driver the JPEG was stored with slightly higher compression. Also, according the files’ EXIF information, the exposure time was shorter using the ZUZA driver.
Here are links to the original JPEGs straight from the phone:

Well, I guess this post is a cautionary tale…not all advice is good advice.
